History in brief

Marianske Lazne is the youngest spa town in the West Bohemia. Marianske Lazne was founded in the valley with many healing mineral springs in the beginning of the 19th century. Dr. Jan Josef Nehr started with systematic analysis of the mineral springs healing effects at the end of the 18th century. In 1805 he built the first brick house near the Cross Spring and made it a spa house called Golden Sphere.

Sights

The prevailing architectural style of Marianske Lazne is neoclassicism. The colonnade built in 1889 is a real jewel of the town. Other important sights are the Orthodox Church of St. Vladimir, Anglican church, Roman-Catholic Church of Assumption of Virgin Mary, Cross Spring Pavilion, Ferdinand's Spring colonnade, house Casino or house Chopin where you can learn about Frederick Chopin's life and listen to his music.

Healing mineral springs

There are about 100 mineral springs around Marianske Lazne, in the town itself there are about 40 springs. Some of them have their names e.g. Ambrozuv pramen (Ambrose's Spring), Krizovy pramen (Cross Spring), Rudolfuv pramen (Rudolph's Spring), Mariin pramen (Mary's Spring). All of those are healing acidulous springs with a temperature of 7-10 degrees Celsius. The minerals water is also used for inhalation and mineral baths. The baths are decreasing blood pressure, helping heart and kidneys activity and promote blood circulation in brain and lower limbs.

Active life

Marianske Lazne offers wide choice of sport activities as golf course (the 2nd oldest one in Europe, established by the English king Edward VII), mini golf, tennis courts, swimming pools, fitness rooms, horse riding, yachting, angling, skiing or paths for tourists and cyclists.
